Three people are facing charges after a daytime shootout in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood.
Boston police said the charges were the result of an incident at 1 p.m. Thursday when a sergeant stopped at a red light at the intersection of Dearborn and Dudley streets and heard multiple rounds fired before seeing a man run toward a vehicle and flee in the direction of Melnea Cass Boulevard.
The vehicle’s description and direction of travel were promptly relayed over police radio.
Police discovered the vehicle on the Massachusetts Avenue junction and conducted a motor vehicle stop. Police arrested the suspect, David Carrasquillo, 24, of Roxbury. A loaded weapon was found at his waist.
Detectives analyzed video security footage that showed Carrasquillo firing a gun toward Ziegler Street and recovered ballistic evidence from the site.
During their investigation, officers observed three people on Zeigler Street, two of whom returned fire on Carrasquillo. Officers investigated the area and discovered many vehicles damaged by gunshots. They discovered further ballistic evidence at Dearborn and Zeigler streets.
More ballistic evidence was discovered in the rear of 121 Zeigler St., and detectives determined that the three people involved had entered that residence.
A cordon was established around the address, and a SWAT team and negotiators were summoned. Following negotiations with the suspects, three men and a woman exited the house, and the address was secured pending a search warrant.
Ella Pena, 19, of Roxbury, and David Ortiz, 19, of Boston, were detained on a half dozen gun-related offenses and are anticipated to appear in Roxbury District Court. The last man and woman were released.
Carrasquillo is also set to appear in Roxbury District Court on three counts of attempted assault and battery with a firearm, as well as firing a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
There were no injuries recorded as a result of the incident.
