Parma woman sentenced to 24 months in prison for hit-and-run death of 73-year-old woman

A 21-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to a deadly hit-and-run that claimed the life of a pedestrian on Cleveland’s West Side was sentenced to 24 months in prison on Tuesday.

Amanda Liepold of Parma pled guilty in March to aggravated vehicular homicide, a third-degree felony.

The court also suspended Liepold’s license for 25 years.

She will be on parole for at least one year following her release.

On November 16, 2025, Liepold struck Shirley Brown in the EcoVillage part of the city’s Detroit Shoreway district before fleeing the scene.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner reported that Brown’s body was located on the Father Begin Bridge, a pedestrian bridge that spans the railroad tracks near West 65th Street and Madison Avenue.

According to records, Brown died from blunt force injuries to her body and left arm.

According to court documents, Liepold was arrested on November 16, 2025.

According to court documents, Cleveland police cited Liepold in June 2023 for failing to control her vehicle.

She pleaded guilty to the small misdemeanor traffic infraction and paid a fine, according to court documents.
