Authorities have located and apprehended 52-year-old Adam Wahlgren in Lonoke, Arkansas, following an intensive investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM).
Attorney General James Uthmeier confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, stating that Wahlgren now faces 80 individual crimes and a maximum prison sentence of 1,200 years.
The investigation began with a cyber alert from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That report mentioned the usage of Synchronoss, a Verizon-based data storage service, to view and send unlawful files.
The Sanford and Orlando police departments were initially involved in the inquiry, but the IP address was finally tracked back to Wahlgren’s home in St. Cloud.
When St. Cloud Police executed a search warrant at the home, they discovered an enormous amount of digital evidence. Officers confiscated a tablet, two laptops, a desktop, nine USB drives, two external drives, two SD cards, and 28 hard drives.
Preliminary forensic investigation on the devices found horrific photographs and movies, including data depicting youngsters who were physically bound. Investigators found almost 100,000 files on a single device.
As the investigation progressed, Wahlgren escaped Florida, but investigators eventually found him in Arkansas. He was arrested by the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office on May 1, 2026.
“This predator believed he could avoid the consequences of his despicable behavior by fleeing to another state. He was mistaken,” Attorney General Uthmeier stated in a statement. “In Florida, we will find you and bring you back to face our prosecutors in court.”
Wahlgren is presently awaiting extradition back to Florida. Lauryn Day, Senior Assistant Statewide Prosecutor for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, will prosecute him once he returns.
Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing, and new charges may be filed as forensic specialists sift through the seized electronics.
