Police: 6 teens rescued during human trafficking mission along Portland’s 82nd Avenue

The Portland Police Bureau reports that six teenage girls were safely retrieved during human trafficking enforcement actions throughout the 82nd Avenue area.

According to PPB, the Human Trafficking Unit discovered the girls, ages 13 to 17, during missions since Wednesday, April 15.

“This is a stunning number, significantly higher than the norm,” PPB said in a statement.

The girls were connected to advocacy services via PPB’s Victim Services and Safety Compass. According to PPB, HTU also worked with the Oregon Department of Human Services to assist with out-of-state parent reunification or placement into DHS care.

The investigation is underway.

PPB stated that HTU is attempting to construct cases against potential traffickers and sex buyers.

If you know or think that someone is being trafficked, please contact 911, PPB’s non-emergency line 503-823-3333, or the National Human Trafficking Hotline 1-888-373-7888. Non-emergency Portland-related tips may also be reported.
