Baby discovered unresponsive at northwest suburban daycare dies

An infant who was airlifted to a Chicago-area hospital after being discovered unresponsive at a daycare died, according to authorities.

According to the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, paramedics were dispatched to the House of Children, situated in the 2500 block of Harding Lane, around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, for reports of a medical emergency involving an infant.

When paramedics arrived, on-site workers were treating the baby, and crews were able to stabilize him before taking him to a nearby hospital.

The infant was then evacuated to another advanced institution, according to officials. Cameron Morris, a 4-month-old newborn, was pronounced dead at 7:47 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Following the initial response, the daycare issued a statement applauding first responders and praying for the youngster.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to our community for the overwhelming support shown to the little one who experienced a medical emergency today,” a statement said. “We are extremely proud of our team for their prompt and professional response, and above all, we are wishing for a speedy and full recovery for this sweet baby!”
