Cincinnati is losing more than 1,000 downtown parking spaces as work on the Brent Spence Bridge project moves forward.

CINCINNATI – The city of Cincinnati and the state of Ohio have closed two surface parking lots at Third Street and Central Avenue that together provide more than 1,000 spaces because of the Brent Spence Bridge project.

Officials shut down both the parking lot between Third Street and West Pete Rose Way west of Central Avenue and Lot A across the street at 309 W. Third St. for an unspecified period.

In 2021, Cincinnati City Council granted the Ohio Department of Transportation an easement for the lots while the state works on the new companion bridge and other highway improvements. According to a letter from ODOT to the city, the temporary easements remain in effect for 36 months.
