Pennsylvania pawn shop owner pleads guilty to fencing $19 Million in stolen goods

A Pennsylvania man accused of using a pawn shop as a fence pled guilty to federal charges this week.

Larry Leonard, 62, of Philadelphia, pled guilty to federal charges including conspiracy to carry and sell stolen goods in interstate commerce, interstate transportation of stolen property, and three counts of money laundering.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Leonard, a pawn shop owner, was accused in December in connection with millions of dollars in stolen gold purchased through his stores in Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware, then sold online.

He was accused of buying millions of dollars’ worth of high-end electronics, power tools, and other items taken from big-box retail outlets by professional thieves or drug dealers and reselling them for profit.

The operation involved more than $19 million in stolen property sold and transported from a Philadelphia pawn shop.
