Nearly 300 arrested amd 89 children rescued after law enforcement operation in Texas

A two-month law enforcement investigation targeting online child exploitation resulted in the arrest of 276 suspects and the rescue of 89 children in Texas, police revealed on Friday.

Operation Soteria Shield was carried out from March to April by the FBI Dallas Division’s North Texas Child Exploitation Task Force and the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

According to investigators, the operation encompassed 91 law enforcement agencies and 197 personnel from Texas, including investigators, digital forensic examiners, prosecutors, victim advocates, and child advocacy organizations.

Suspects were targeted, according to authorities, for suspected offenses such as the possession, distribution, production, and promotion of child sexual abuse material, internet solicitation of kids, human trafficking, sexual assault, and other child exploitation crimes.

Officials said investigators worked to identify victims, locate exploited youngsters, and connect affected families with assistance services.

The FBI said that 89 children were rescued during the operation, and 276 individuals were apprehended.

“Together, we were able to make a significant impact in the ongoing battle against predators who exploit children in our communities,” FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock stated. “The FBI and our law enforcement partners will continue to prioritize the safety of the most vulnerable members of our communities.”

Dallas Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux stated that the operation proved the value of collaboration across local, state, and federal agencies.

“These are not victimless crimes; they leave lasting trauma on children and families,” Comeaux stated. “The Dallas Police Department remains relentless in pursuing those who prey on our most vulnerable.”

Authorities said the cases created by the operation are still live, and further charges may be made as forensic examinations and follow-up investigations continue.
