CINCINNATI — Emergency crews cleared the area around the 800 Broadway Building after authorities investigated a suspicious package that had been left near a rear entrance, according to a spokesperson for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.
The Cincinnati Fire Department’s Hazardous Devices Unit, commonly known as the bomb squad, responded downtown shortly before 8 a.m. after the package was discovered.
A sheriff’s office spokesperson said investigators were examining the package at the 800 Broadway Building, which houses several Hamilton County offices, including juvenile courts.
Authorities later determined the package did not pose a threat, and emergency personnel have since left the scene.
A WCPO news crew observed a heavy police and fire department presence blocking traffic near Reedy Street and Eggleston Avenue. According to a spokesperson for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, authorities closed Reedy Street while they investigated the suspicious package.
Shortly after 9 a.m., the sheriff’s office announced that crews were clearing the area after determining the package posed no threat. Officials have not disclosed what the package contained.
