A Chicago man was sentenced to 17 and a half years in jail for distributing meth in southern Illinois.
Angelo Alvelo, 66, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections for felony illegal manufacturing or delivery of meth.
According to a news release from Jackson County State’s Attorney Marsha Cascio-Hale, on July 8, 2025, the Southern Illinois Enforcement Group purchased 30.2 grams of meth from Alvelo through a confidential source. The transaction was recorded in both audio and video.
That information was provided to the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, and an arrest warrant was approved by the court. Alvelo was arrested.
He pleaded guilty to the charges on October 6, 2025.
