Two freight trains collided on a railway bridge in Munich, Germany, overnight, officials said Saturday. The crash sent two wagons plunging off the bridge and onto the street below, killing one person.
The German news agency dpa did not identify the victim. Officials had not yet determined the cause of the collision.
The wagons fell about 5 meters (16 feet) from the bridge, dpa reported. Munich police closed the street beneath the bridge and urged drivers to avoid the area while crews carried out recovery and clearing operations.
According to dpa, the derailed wagons were not carrying any cargo, and the crash posed no threat to public safety.
Officials reported no other injuries from the crash.
