Two men were killed and two others were injured in a shooting overnight in Philadelphia’s Fairhill neighborhood, police said.
According to authorities, the incident occurred just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, at North 5th and Westmoreland streets.
According to authorities, two men died as a result of their injuries, while two others are hospitalized and expected to survive.
Police believe the incident was related to the grand opening of a new lounge on the street.
“When they arrived, there was a large crowd out there, and two people had been shot,” said Philadelphia Police Captain Tim Stephan. “It’s a rather extensive crime scene; we have a lot of digital evidence, some cell phones, and several FCCs (fired cartridge cases); I believe we’re up to 13 to 16 FCCs. We have live bullets on-site, and there are many projectiles all across the highway.”
Police said the motivation for the shooting is unknown, and no arrests have been made at this time.
