The truck driver involved in a Monroe County crash that killed three people has been sentenced to homicide.

On June 25, Mark Rideout was sentenced to 6-12 years in prison after pleading guilty on April 9 to the following charges:

  • Homicide by vehicle
  • Driving under the influence
  • Involuntary manslaughter

Samantha Crich, 40, of Wilkes-Barre, a 14-year-old passenger in her car, and Bryan Franco, 25, of Hellertown, killed in the collision.

The five-car incident occurred in March 2023, when a tractor-trailer jumped the median on Route 33 in Hamilton Township and collided with oncoming traffic.

Rideout, from Philadelphia, denied taking alcohol or drugs. However, a toxicology report revealed that he had Delta-9 Carboxy THC and Delta-9 THC, an active ingredient in marijuana, in his system, as indicated in the affidavit.
