A Pennsylvania Lottery player bought a top-prize Scratch-Off ticket worth $1 million per year for life at a Walmart in Elk County, offering the lucky ticket bearer the option of collecting lifetime yearly payments or a $14.5 million cash reward.
The winning $1,000,000 a Year for Life Scratch-Off ticket was purchased at the Walmart on 1102 Million Dollar Highway in Fox Township.
The merchant will receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the highest-priced ticket.
The $50 Scratch-Off game has a top prize of $1 million per year for life or a one-time cash payout of $14.5 million, before any tax withholding.
According to Pennsylvania Lottery officials, Scratch-Off tickets are issued at random, so neither the Lottery nor retailers know where winning tickets will be sold until they are claimed.
Scratch-Off prizes expire one year from the game’s official end-of-sale date. Lottery officials advise winners to sign the back of their tickets right away and contact the Pennsylvania Lottery to start the claims process.
All Pennsylvania Lottery wins greater than $5,000 are subject to appropriate tax withholding.
