Two people were taken into custody after a woman was allegedly robbed in the parking lot of the Lovera VIP club in Providence.
According to Providence Police, officers responded to the lot around 2:55 a.m. for a reported assault, which they determined to be a strong-arm robbery during their investigation.
The victim, an adult woman, informed police that she was assaulted and robbed by a gang of four female suspects and that she suffered two facial cuts.
Lovera is allegedly owned by Judith Perez, the sister of Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez.
Police said they responded to the nightclub less than an hour earlier for crowd dispersal, citing concerns about recurring pop-up parties in the parking lot. When police arrived about 2 a.m., there were approximately 300 people present. Men were arrested at the time and are now facing charges of alcoholic possession and consumption.
Providence Police say the city’s Board of Licenses has been notified of the events.
Detectives are currently seeking to identify those involved in the robbery.
The Providence Board of Licenses also met on Sunday and decided to suspend all licenses until a show cause hearing on July 8.
