A Delaware man is charged with attempted murder after state police reported that a woman was shot in the face during an incident in Wilmington during the holiday weekend.
According to Delaware State Police, troopers responded to a shooting incident in the 2100 block of Marsh Road at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.
When troopers and emergency medical personnel arrived, they discovered a 35-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the face, authorities said. The person was sent to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
Investigators identified the suspect as Paul Waller, 39, of Wilmington. According to state police, the inquiry revealed that Waller reportedly shot the woman during a verbal conversation, and detectives issued a warrant for his arrest.
According to police, Waller was arrested in Pennsylvania on Sunday. Authorities said he will face charges in Delaware if extradited.
Waller is expected to face charges of attempted first-degree murder and possessing a handgun while committing a felony.
The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit is still investigating the shooting.
