Five men from New York and New Jersey have been taken into custody for allegedly attempting to sexually exploit children online in Rockland County, according to New York State Police.
The arrests were made during a multi-agency effort to combat digital crimes against children.
According to investigators, the suspects are from Spring Valley, Poughkeepsie, Brooklyn, Secaucus, New Jersey, and Ronkonkoma, Long Island.
The men are charged with attempted rape, attempted dissemination of indecent material to a minor, attempted unlawful dealing with a child, and attempted harming the welfare of a child.
Those arrested included Oleksandr Vershok, 36, of Brooklyn; Anthony Kamycki, 36, of Ronkonkoma; Ritchy Mercure, 24, of Spring Valley; Alex Garrett, 26, of Secaucus; and Bryan Wylong, 24, of Poughkeepsie.
According to state police, four of the defendants were arraigned in Ramapo Town Court and remanded to Rockland County Jail.
Wylong was arraigned in Orange County and committed to the Orange County Jail.
Authorities stated that the inquiry was carried out through collaborations aimed at combating digital crimes against children.
