Florida Fugitive Featured On Crime Stoppers ’10 Most Wanted’ List Taken Into Custody In California

A Florida woman who had previously been named to the Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers 10 Most Wanted list has been taken into custody in California, according to law enforcement officials.

Cameron Shirley, 28, was wanted by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office on allegations of unlawful sexual behavior with a minor.

According to SWFL Crime Stoppers, Shirley worked at a juvenile halfway house in Charlotte County when she reportedly engaged in illegal sexual acts with a boy  who lived there.

Authorities indicated that the arrest was the result of an anonymous report received directly to Crime Stoppers. Representatives from the program thanked the public for its aid in locating the suspect, saying that the tip supplied critical information that led to her arrest after she departed the state.

“This arrest was made possible thanks to an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip, proving once again that your information can make a real difference,” SWFL Crime Stoppers stated in a statement. “We want to thank everyone who shared our message and helped spread the word. This capture serves as another reminder that wanted fugitives cannot hide forever.

Specific information about Shirley’s arrest in California, the local agencies involved, and the timing for her extradition back to Florida has yet to be disclosed.
