Toledo man apprehended and charged in 2020 fentanyl overdose death of woman

A Toledo man has been taken into custody in connection with a woman’s overdose death in 2020, after a Lucas County grand jury indicted him for involuntary manslaughter.

Robert Hines, 41, was detained on Wednesday after authorities obtained a warrant following his June 29 indictment in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

The indictment charges Hines with one count of involuntary manslaughter, which is a first-degree felony. Prosecutors said that on or around February 15, 2020, Hines caused Anna Garver’s death by knowingly supplying her fentanyl, which contributed to her death.

In 2022, Hines was indicted on various drug offenses, including fentanyl distribution. The allegations were dismissed by the courts in March 2022, when prosecutors filed a nolle prosequi noting that the case had already been handled in Toledo Municipal Court. The court ordered Hines’ discharge on all counts.

Hines’ next court appearance has not yet been set.
