Officials with the FBI Indianapolis stated that a fugitive wanted in Hamilton County was recently arrested in Indianapolis after he was charged with multiple sex-related felonies in 2024.
According to court records, Javier Cereque-Perez was charged in Hamilton County with:
- Two counts of attempting to commit rape, each a Level 3 felony
- One count of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 5 felony
- One count of sexual battery, a Level 6 felony.
The FBI stated that Cereque-Perez was arrested in Indianapolis.
Cereque-Perez’s initial arrest warrant was issued in December 2024, according to the records. This was in reference to an alleged incident in August 2024 involving Cereque-Perez and a minor.
This comes after an officer from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was summoned to a home in the 3400 block of North Sadlier Drive on August 16, 2024, for a report of a domestic disturbance.
At the time, court filings stated that a juvenile informed officers that a male, later identified as Cereque-Perez, had allegedly handled her improperly and attempted to rape her while in a car near Fishers. According to reports, the two were at the same worksite.
During an interview, the child said that Cereque-Perez forced her to kiss him. Cereque-Perez also attempted to take her clothing off in the car. According to the documents, Cereque-Perez cleaned up with a work shirt and threw it away in the trash at the job site.
During the interview, the minor also stated that Cereque-Perez had done this to her previously, but she was unable to identify how many times or when.
Cereque-Perez stated in an interview at the time that he had “nothing to hide and denied touching (the minor.)” According to reports, Cereque-Perez was unable to offer information on the worksite’s location or county.
Officers responded to the worksite using the minor’s provided location and city cameras. According to the documents, the T-shirt was collected at that time from a dumpster on the job site.
The FBI Indianapolis Violent Crimes Task Force, in collaboration with DHS/ICE/ERO, apprehended Cereque-Perez, according to a social media statement from the agency on Tuesday morning.
According to court documents, Cereque-Perez’s initial hearing took place on July 7 in Hamilton County. Cereque-Perez’s bond was set at $50,000 during this hearing, and his final pretrial conference was scheduled for Oct. 21. His jury trial was due to begin on Nov. 2.
Cereque-Perez was returned to the custody of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. According to the documents, an immigration detainer request was filed in this case on July 15, and the Mexican Consulate was reportedly notified of the charges.
