$5 Publix Trip Turns Into A $1M Payday For Florida Woman

An Apopka resident just won $1 million with a $5 scratch-off ticket, according to state officials.

Jean Olsen, 63, won the top prize in the Florida Lottery’s $1,000,000 CASH STACKS game on July 1 at lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.

According to lottery authorities, Olsen chose to receive her rewards in the form of a single lump sum of $616,700.

Olsen purchased the winning ticket at the Publix at 1545 Rock Springs Road in Apopka.

The $5 CASH STACKS game began with almost $48 million in total cash prizes. According to state data, scratch-off games accounted for nearly 74% of all Florida Lottery ticket sales during the fiscal year 2024-2025.
