Cleveland Police apprehended three carjacking suspects and discovered three guns in a stolen car last week.
According to a Cleveland Police release, on July 19, a car was stolen during an aggravated robbery in the 7900 block of Colgate Avenue when a suspect pointed a gun at the victim.
To trace the car’s travels, investigators used Flock Safety license plate reader equipment and were assisted by the Gang Impact Unit (GIU), the Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC), and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the announcement, officers located the car near the 3400 block of West 98th Street utilizing Flock Safety cameras.
When cops attempted to halt the car, the suspects fled, leading officers on a brief pursuit.
Officers detained three men: a 19-year-old, a 20-year-old, and a 21-year-old.
According to police, the 20- and 21-year-olds were on parole, and the 19-year-old was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of arrest.
During the inquiry, officers recovered the stolen vehicle and discovered three weapons.
The 19-year-old and 21-year-old were charged with receiving stolen property and possessing guns while disabled.
The twenty-year-old was charged with receiving stolen stuff.
“This case highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing, interagency collaboration, and technology in identifying violent offenders and recovering illegal firearms,” a Facebook post said.
