A 35-year-old woman from Las Vegas was charged on Monday in Miami-Dade County after allegedly stealing over $80,000 from a man in Miami in 2024, according to court records.
Deputies detained Cassandra Thompson, also known as Cassandra Costentine, at Miami International Airport about 10:20 p.m. on Friday on a pending Miami-Dade arrest warrant, according to records.
According to the arrest request, a man met Thompson on December 11, 2024, at Gekko in Miami’s Brickell district and invited her to his apartment, where she gave him alcohol.
“The victim recalled feeling unwell after he was served the beverage prepared by the subject,” a police officer wrote, according to the warrant. “He believed he lost consciousness or was so impaired that it caused him to be unresponsive.”
The man’s surveillance camera showed Thompson “taking the victim’s phone and walking into the bedroom,” a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office detective stated in the arrest request.
The victim accused Thompson of stealing $10,000 in cash from his bedroom and using his cell phone to take over $72,840 in bitcoin and $1,225 via Venmo, according to the warrant.
According to inmate records, Thompson was booked by Miami-Dade Corrections soon after 12:25 a.m. on Saturday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Thompson was charged with four counts: third-degree grand theft, money laundering with unlawful proceeds, criminal use of a communications device, and a computer felony involving deception.
