Authorities stated they have sentenced two dealers after fentanyl trafficking on the darknet resulted in the deaths of three people.
James P. Cullen, V., 32, and Michelle Lindsay Ferranti, 33, of Bartonsville, were sentenced on September 3 for a narcotics trafficking conspiracy that resulted in death. Cullen received a 25-year prison sentence, while Ferranti was sentenced to 20 years.
According to US Attorney Brian D. Miller, Cullen and Ferranti trafficked fentanyl, which resulted in the deaths of three people.
A collaborative operation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) uncovered a darknet vendor selling opioids online.
The opioids were sold in return for cryptocurrency and subsequently distributed via US mail. According to the announcement, beginning in October 2022, undercover investigators made purchases from the darknet vendor and discovered that Cullen and Ferranti ran the darknet vendor persona.
Law police said they discovered about 1,000 entries in drug ledgers dating back to the summer of 2021 and mailed to 49 states and many nations worldwide.
After obtaining Cullen and Ferranti’s drug ledgers, detectives discovered three victims in three different states who died as a result of overdosing on the narcotics Cullen and Ferranti sold.
Following their jail sentences, both offenders will be placed on supervised release.
