A touch of spooky season returns to the Ohio Statehouse this October, as the popular Haunted Tours now offer tickets for sale.
The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board announced that visitors can purchase tickets for the annual Haunted Tours at the Statehouse Museum Shop. The nighttime tours promise eerie stories and lantern-lit hallways as conductors guide visitors and bring forgotten figures and unusual events from Ohio’s past to life.
“This is an opportunity for our Museum and Education team to share tales of forgotten figures or unique events that have a spooky twist,” said Dayna Jalkanen, deputy director of museum and education at the Ohio Statehouse.
Jalkanen said most Statehouse tours focus on history and civics, but this event differs. “We love this time of year because it’s a great way to engage with visitors in a one-of-a-kind experience!” she said.
The tours welcome ages 12 and up and will span two weekends with ticketed entry, on the following dates and times:
- Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
- Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Tickets cost $16 per person. Anyone with questions about accessibility or planning to bring a group of six or more children should contact the statehouse.
For younger visitors, the Statehouse will offer a free Trick-or-treat tour on Friday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. This event lets children in costume explore the Statehouse, collect treats and learn about Ohio’s Capitol. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Parking is available in the Statehouse Underground Garage for both events. Costume pieces resembling weapons will be confiscated.
