An Illinois Wendy’s employee attempted to kill a co‑worker by charging into an office while the victim was speaking with a manager and stabbing the victim in the face.
Tichina Marshall, 29, pleaded guilty to attempted first‑degree murder and received a twelve‑year prison sentence, according to the Vermilion County State’s Attorney.
The incident occurred on May 26, 2025, at the Wendy’s located on North Vermilion Street in Danville. When officers arrived, they found the victim “bleeding uncontrollably and nearly unconscious,” with multiple stab wounds to the head and face, prosecutors reported.
Police learned that the victim was conversing with a manager in a small office when the defendant burst through the door wielding a knife. Marshall declared, “I am going to kill you,” before slashing the victim at least twice in the face and atop the head.
The two had previously experienced conflict; Marshall allegedly threatened to kill the co‑worker about a month before the stabbing.
Marshall fractured the victim’s skull and inflicted a deep stab wound to the head. Authorities arrested her shortly after the attack.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy praised the victim for cooperating with prosecutors to secure a conviction. “While no sentence can undo the lasting effects caused by this defendant, this prison sentence reflects the violent nature of this attack and the devastating injuries suffered by the victim,” Lacy said.
Marshall must serve at least 85 percent of her sentence before becoming eligible for parole. Upon release, she will be placed on three years of probation.
Soon after the attack, the Wendy’s location was among 300 restaurants that closed due to underperformance.
