One man faces charges and deputies are searching for another after they stole thousands of dollars worth of jackets from Dick’s Sporting Good on Jefferson Road, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Sgt. Brendan Hurley, deputies responded to the store at 4:46 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a theft in progress. Witnesses reported witnessing two males grab many jackets before fleeing in a U-Haul truck with Arizona license plates.
Hurley stated that deputies discovered the truck and halted it on East Henrietta Road. One passenger fled, while the driver was caught, and another man was removed from the truck after refusing to exit.
Investigators established that the passenger removed from the truck, 51-year-old Leonard Henry of Rochester, was one of the two men who stole the jackets worth $3,780. Hurley stated that Henry, a repeat criminal, was charged with grand larceny, resisting arrest, and impeding governmental administration. He also had an active arrest warrant from Genesee County for grand larceny. He was brought to Monroe County Jail.
According to Hurley, the driver was not charged, and the fleeing passenger has yet to be found. Anyone with information is asked to contact 911 or email [email protected].
