Woman nabbed with fentanyl after theft investigation initiated at Walmart

A Leesburg woman was nabbed with fentanyl during a theft investigation at Walmart.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to Walmart at 2501 Citrus Blvd. for a theft report, according to an arrest record from the Leesburg Police Department. According to loss prevention, 27-year-old Robiana Nashae Lee placed stolen things into a white backpack before fleeing in a gray Nissan when confronted.

An officer canvassed the area until he found the vehicle at the Dollar Tree in the Leesburg Square retail complex, located at 2241 Citrus Boulevard. He spotted Lee enter the store with a white rucksack and waited for her to leave before apprehending her. According to the report, she denied stealing anything from Walmart.

When asked to identify herself, Lee took out a little green floral coin purse and swiftly returned it to the backpack. According to the report, she stated that her ID was not in the backpack and pointed to the ID card that was lying loosely within.

Lee emphasized that she had not stolen from Walmart. She admitted that she considered it but changed her mind while in the bathroom. Loss prevention later discovered the missing items in the bathroom. She then allowed the officer to search her backpack for items, according to the report.

While searching, the officer opened the coin pouch and discovered a chopped straw with a white powdered residue. A little plastic baggie containing 0.9 grams of fentanyl rested next it, as was a small black tube with further residue. According to the report, Lee stated that the straw and tube were for “use” of what she identified as cocaine.

Lee was detained on allegations of possessing fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Lake County Jail and released after posting a $3,500 bond.
