A man from out of state faces significant charges for allegedly drugging and raping a longtime acquaintance.

The incident took place on April 2 inside an apartment in Miami Beach.

According to an arrest report, the victim informed police she was out drinking and partying with 34-year-old Geron Gjata.

According to the arrest paperwork, the victim stated that she had known Gjata for years.

After drinking drinks at the victim’s apartment, the duo went to Lost Weekend (218 Española Way) and Club Deuce (222 14th St).

According to authorities, while walking back to the victim’s apartment, they saw a third individual, Frank David Sanders, 48.

Police claimed Sanders invited the couple back to his residence on Lenox Ave., where Gjata’s arrest form reads, “The three continued to consume alcohol, in addition to consuming illegal narcotics (cocaine).”

According to authorities, the victim claimed Sanders eventually woke her up.

She claimed she was in a bed, wearing no shirt and someone else’s shorts, with Gjata sleeping on a couch.

According to the police report, she began to experience pain associated with having intercourse while trying to find her clothes.

After contacting police, the victim stated that she believed she had been drugged since Sanders had mentioned ketamine, which she does not use recreationally, and that the effects she was experiencing were inconsistent with cocaine, according to officials.

According to police, Gjata traveled to Miami Beach Police Headquarters the next day to engage in an interview, which was mostly deleted from his arrest form except for the fact that he rejected voluntarily producing a DNA sample.

Several months later, on August 28, police claimed Sanders went to MBPD headquarters for an interview.

According to a heavily redacted arrest record, Sanders admitted to drinking and using cocaine with the victim, and he gave police a voluntary DNA sample.

Based on the evidence, police said they detained Gjata on Tuesday on accusations of sexual battery and sexual battery with numerous perpetrators.

Gjata’s arrest documents state that authorities anticipate Sanders turning himself in with legal representation “at a later date.”

Police have not stated why Gjata, who has a permanent residence in Chicago, Illinois, was in South Florida during the alleged event or when he was detained several months later.
