Police say that a doctor’s afternoon out for drinks turned sour after she attacked her husband and a Florida Highway Patrol trooper.
According to FHP, Gisell Mansur, 39, was arrested after becoming violent on the Palmetto Expressway, spitting on a trooper and attempting to obstruct traffic at one point.
Officials claim it started while Mansur was drinking with friends at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant Lounge near Miami International Airport.
Mansur’s husband went to the restaurant to pick up her and a friend after too many drinks.
According to the report, Mansur and her friend began bickering while driving down the Palmetto Expressway at the West Flagler Street exit around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
When her husband pulled over to help, Mansur allegedly became physically abusive, kicking him in the face and then climbing over the hood of their SUV. According to authorities, she was reportedly “sitting in the middle of the main roadway while blocking rush hour traffic.”
According to the complaint, when FHP officers took her into custody to transfer her to headquarters, she began kicking the patrol car’s doors and windows.
The allegation goes on to say that as a trooper was “restraining Mansur, she spit directly into my face with saliva and blood on the left side of my face.”
Mansur was a physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
The center has since produced a statement that confirms her termination:
“We are aware of the incident involving a physician who is no longer affiliated with Mount Sinai. The incident did not occur on our campus and did not involve Mount Sinai patients or staff.”
The 39-year-old is now facing several crimes, including violence, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
The bond for Mansur was set at $3,800.
