A Waldorf woman was arrested and charged with multiple misdemeanor counts after an incident inside a Charles County shopping mall developed into a physical altercation with officers, according to court records.

According to court documents, the defendant is Andrea Renee Johnson, 35, of Waldorf. The incident happened on the evening of December 20, 2025, in the St. Charles Towne Center neighborhood, when deputies reacted to a reported disturbance within the mall.

According to the probable cause statement, deputies found Johnson in possession of a rental vehicle that investigators later learned she was not permitted to operate. According to authorities, Johnson left the area with the vehicle and returned approximately 30 minutes later. Johnson was unable to offer confirmation that she was an approved driver under the rental agreement.

According to police, Johnson attempted to flee from deputies and refused instructions to halt, entering active traffic on Mall Circle and causing motorists to brake and swerve. During an attempt to apprehend her, authorities reported a physical altercation in which Johnson resisted being detained, knocking one officer to the ground and incurring minor injuries.

Johnson was eventually restrained and placed in detention. Investigators observed increased resistance throughout the arrest, as well as disruptive behavior to traffic and adjacent businesses.

Johnson faces charges of second-degree assault, refusing or interfering with arrest, disorderly behavior, and obstructing and impeding law enforcement. She was released on her own recognizance that same day.

According to court documents, a trial scheduling hearing has been set for February 17, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
