Man Apprehended In Mexico In Murder Of Missing Hialeah Man Whose Body Was Found In Recycling Bin

A man has been apprehended in Mexico in connection with the murder of a man who went missing in Hialeah last year and was later discovered in a recycling bin, authorities said.

Alfredo Carballo Gonzalez was apprehended by Mexican authorities on Tuesday and extradited to South Florida, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.

The 32-year-old is charged with second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence in the August 2025 disappearance of Daylon Fleitas Gonzalez.

Ariely Alvarez Cabrera, 27, Carballo Gonzalez’s girlfriend, was detained in Mexico in September and extradited to South Florida.

She is facing charges for accessory after the fact and tampering with physical evidence.

After Fleitas went missing on August 3, authorities asked the public for assistance in locating the pair. According to detectives, Fleitas met with Gonzalez that day around 95th Avenue and Northwest 106th Street.

Carballo Gonzalez was observed entering Fleitas’ truck, when an incident occurred, investigators said. Carballo Gonzalez then placed a recycling container in the bed of the Fleitas’ truck and drove away, followed by Cabrera in another vehicle.

On August 8, officers discovered Fleitas’ truck abandoned, with blood stains on the front driver’s seat and door, as well as a rucksack containing blood-stained clothing and shoes.

Detectives explored the area and discovered the recycling container containing Fleitas’ body in a wooded area along Southwest 203rd Avenue.

Authorities reported that Fleitas’ body had many sharp force injuries to the face, neck, and back.

According to the warrant, Fleitas was meeting with Carballo Gonzalez to collect $10,000 that he owed him.

Fleitas’ girlfriend reported receiving a text message from an unknown number in which the sender claimed to be Fleitas and stated that he had been stopped by police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement and was fleeing to Mexico, according to the warrant.

The girlfriend claimed she requested for specific information that only Fleitas would know, and as the sender dodged an answer, she concluded it was a fake.

Fleitas’ brother also told detectives that on August 4, he received a call from Carballo Gonzalez, who stated he was going to meet with Fleitas but never showed up, according to the warrant.

According to the warrant, Carballo Gonzalez informed the brother that he owed Fleitas $2,500 and then wired the money to Fleitas’ brother via Zelle.

Alvarez Cabrera and Carballo Gonzalez’s alleged voyage to Mexico was revealed by a prosecutor during their bond court appearance. Authorities did not specify how or when they arrived. They flee to Mexico, get someone to take them to Texas or find another way to get to Texas, then enter Mexico and travel to Cancun; the Marshals and police officers have intelligence that they want to return to Cuba,” the prosecutor stated.

A 5-month-old newborn was with the couple, and police were concerned for his safety, but the youngster was subsequently found and returned to Florida, officials said.

Alvarez Cabrera’s attorney, Bijan Sebastian Parwaresch, told NBC6 that she is innocent and is contesting the charges.”She has always done her best to help with the investigation, but she was not directly involved in his arrest,” Parwaresch added.

According to Parwaresch, Alvarez Cabrera was being detained against her will at a hotel in Mexico before escaping and turning herself in. He claimed the couple has not talked since then.

Alvarez Cabrera is currently under home arrest, while Carballo Gonzalez is in custody while awaiting trial.
