Central Florida Man Taken Into Custody For Shooting Dog

A Central Florida man was taken into custody for allegedly shooting a dog in revenge after it attacked his dog.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office charged the man with shooting a dog on multiple counts. In January, local officers responded to a complaint of a shooting in the 15300 block of Otto Road near Tampa.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with 41-year-old Aaron Allen, who acknowledged shooting a 4-year-old pit bull in retribution after it attacked his 16-year-old Pomeranian the day before, according to HCSO. Both dogs died from their injuries.

“Acts of violence against animals are unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our community,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister declared. “No one has the right to take matters into their own hands in this way, and we will hold those responsible fully accountable.”

According to HCSO, Allen was detained and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals with a weapon, armed trespassing, discharge of a firearm on residential property, and shooting into a building.

Local law enforcement reports that this is an ongoing inquiry.
