89-year-old Who Was Found Dead In Crashed Vehicle Identified As Missing West Toledo Woman

A missing woman was discovered dead in a crashed vehicle in Wood County on Thursday morning. She was eventually recognized as a woman reported missing from west Toledo.

The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. Thursday, near East Broadway and Genoa Road.

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the incident, which involved a maroon-colored vehicle in a ditch. A police officer informed WTOL 11 that the vehicle may have been in the ditch overnight.

Emergency crews discovered a deceased 89-year-old female inside the car. The Ohio State Highway Patrol named the victim, Carole Kleber, in a news statement. The Ohio State Highway Patrol pronounced her dead at the scene.

Toledo police stated in a social media post on Wednesday that a woman with the same name and age was missing from west Toledo. The Ohio State Patrol confirmed with WTOL 11 that they are the same person.

The homeowner who lives in front of the crash site notified authorities after discovering the car, noting that it had not been there when they arrived from work at 8:30 p.m. the day before.

A trooper on the scene reported that the crash occurred between 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 6 a.m. on Thursday. Thursday.
