A woman was detained on Thursday for allegedly transporting fake drugs from New York to sell in Pennsylvania.
Samantha Batista, 33, of Yonkers, New York, was apprehended on Route 115 in Plains Township and discovered with two rectangular parcels “recognized as being consistent with traditionally packaged kilogram quantities of drugs.”
According to the affidavit, Batista was found with marijuana in the center console.
Police claim they were looking for a known drug trafficker who was expected to travel on Thursday when they discovered Batista’s vehicle.
The packages were inspected and found to be counterfeit, and Batista admitted to buying each for $100 with the aim of selling them for $14,000.
Batista is in Luzerne County Prison on drug charges after failing to post a $75,000 bond.
