Central Florida Man Taken Into Custody For Throwing Nails Into Roadway

A Central Florida man was taken into custody after throwing nails into a road.

Deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested Felix Uresti, 51, for throwing nails onto a road in the Valrico community near Tampa.

The investigation began on September 11, 2025, when the Sheriff’s Office got a call reporting hundreds of nails spread along South Miller Road and Lithia Center Lane. Over the next five months, another 27 instances were reported in the same location.

Deputies discovered that the driver of a white pickup truck was throwing nails on the road at the intersection of Bucknell Road and Miller Road, causing damage to many vehicles.

As deputies began their investigation in January 2026, they watched Felix Uresti exit his white 2022 Toyota Tundra and place nails on Miller Road. Uresti was eventually hauled into custody.

During a search of his vehicle, deputies discovered the same roofing nails used in other sites in a large bucket of nails in the back seat, according to local authorities.

Uresti was charged with six counts of criminal mischief of $1,000 or more, throwing a deadly missile at or into a vehicle, and violating Florida’s litter law (public or private property).
