A shocking discovery was uncovered outside an Elk Grove Village extended-stay hotel.
Police say a woman was discovered deceased shortly after 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
Investigators spent most of the day analyzing the scene.
Elk Grove Village police reported a suspicious death but reassured the public that it was an isolated incident. “I just freaked out and couldn’t believe it,” said Eva Wypych, who was staying in a neighboring hotel. “I saw a body covered with the blanket.”
Wypych is staying at the motel near Landmeier and Higgins Road and said she noticed the body and detectives on the scene as soon as she came outside for her early morning walk.
The Major Case Assistance Team responded with the police. Investigators were spotted combing through dumpsters near the hotel, gathering numerous bags of evidence.
According to Wypych, hotel guests have heard tales of the woman’s death, but investigators have yet to reveal any specifics. This just breaks my heart. People should love and care for one another, Wypych stated. “Nobody deserved it. We are all made by God, and only God can take you.”
The woman found dead has yet to be named by officials.
Police have not confirmed whether she was staying at the hotel, but they have stated that no one is currently in custody.
