Long Island Man Arrested with Meth During Pedestrian Stop in New Jersey: Cops

On February 21, 2026, at approximately 12:00pm, the Stafford Township Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) performed a pedestrian stop on Tyler R. Friedenthal, 31, of Park Avenue in Freeport, New York, near Route 72 and the Route 9 overpass. During the pedestrian stop, Friedenthal was found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Friedenthal also had an ongoing arrest warrant issued by Jersey City Municipal Court.

Friedenthal was eventually arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and one active outstanding warrant. Friedenthal was taken to the Stafford Township Police Department for processing.

Friedenthal was charged with 2C:35-10A(1) possession of methamphetamine (3rd degree felony), 2C:36-2A possession of drug paraphernalia (disorderly persons offense), and 2C:29-3A(7) delaying his own arrest (disorderly persons offense).

Friedenthal was transferred to Ocean County Jail after being processed by the Stafford Township Police Department, where he awaited a detention hearing before the Ocean County Superior Court.
