Man Sentenced To Over 15 Years In Prison For Distributing Meth And Fentanyl

An Illinois man was sentenced in Cedar Rapids to more than 15 years in federal prison Monday for distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Devon Frazier, 26, of Chicago, Illinois, pled guilty to one count of methamphetamine distribution and one count of possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute in December 2024.

According to court records, Frazier handed over 111 grams of crystal methamphetamine to someone on February 8, 2023. On February 13, 2023, he supplied 282 grams of alleged methamphetamine to someone else.

Police claimed testing revealed that the alleged methamphetamine was actually sea salt. Officers apprehended Frazier after this transaction.

During transfer to the Linn County Correctional Center, Frazier spilled a baggie containing 362 fentanyl pills on the police car’s floor. Officers later discovered the baggie.

On March 3, 2023, Frazier gave a 19-year-old female a fentanyl-laced Xanax pill. The next day, she died of a fentanyl overdose.

Frazier then vowed to kill those he thought were working with law police after the overdose.

Frazier was sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
