Man apprehended in suburban DUI crash and accused of carrying loaded gun without license

A man is facing charges for allegedly driving drunk and carrying an illegal firearm during a crash in suburban Chicago.

Around 2:50 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 9200 block of West Noel Street in unincorporated Maine Township.

According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, both drivers smelled of alcohol and were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

One of the drivers, Augustus Pye, 35, was discovered with a loaded gun in his belt, according to authorities.

Pye did not possess a FOID card or a concealed carry license. He was additionally charged with aggravated unauthorized possession of a handgun.
