A man who trafficked fentanyl and cocaine while unlawfully possessing 17 firearms inside his Wicker Park home was sentenced to nine years in federal prison, officials revealed Thursday.
Hugo Pinzon, 36, pleaded guilty to federal drug and weapon offenses in exchange for the sentence imposed by US District Judge John Kness, according to the US Attorney’s Office in Chicago.
In January 2024, a confidential informant notified Homeland Security Investigations officers that a man known as “Hugo” or “Juiceman” was selling cocaine in the Chicagoland area, launching the investigation. Agents arranged for the informant to make numerous controlled purchases totaling thousands of dollars from Pinzon before he died in a car accident on March 5, 2024, according to court filings.
A month later, investigators conducted a search warrant at Pinzon’s residence in the 1500 block of North Western Avenue and discovered more than 12 pounds of bulk cocaine, $95,456 in cash, a money counter, a vacuum sealer, and 17 guns, according to officials.
A lady who lived at the house allegedly informed authorities that Pinzon lived with her and their four-year-old son.
