Police: 20-year-old Woman Found Dead In Chicago River

Police are investigating after a 20-year-old woman was discovered dead in the Chicago River on Sunday.

Around 8 a.m., officials responded to a complaint from a person who reported seeing something in the Chicago River on the 2200 block of South Grove Street, on the border of Pilsen and South Loop.

The Marine Unit of the Chicago Police Department investigated and recovered an unresponsive 20-year-old woman from the water, according to authorities. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Cook County Medical Examiner later identified the woman as Maria Jose Casas Fabela.

No other information was immediately provided.

Detectives are still investigating.
