A Belleview woman has been sentenced to ten years in jail and lost her driver’s license for life after pleading guilty to charges related to a 2025 drunk driving accident that killed her 27-year-old passenger.
Amber Noelle Sacks pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter and DUI causing property damage last week. Both charges stemmed from a single-vehicle crash on August 16, 2025, that killed Austin Michael Snyder.
According to the initial Florida Highway Patrol investigation, Sacks was driving a blue Nissan Altima southbound on State Road 35 when it swerved off the road.
The car collided with a tree and a cemetery fence before coming to a stop at SE 102nd Place Road.
Snyder was ejected from the vehicle following the crash and pronounced dead at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital.
Responding troopers located six cans of beer on the passenger floorboard and observed that Sacks smelled of alcohol and spoke slurredly.
While Sacks first claimed she had only had two beers, breath tests later indicated a blood alcohol content of.138, much over the legal limit of 0.08.
Sacks’ sentence includes ten years in prison, followed by five years of probation. Her driver’s license has also been permanently canceled for life.
Sacks must follow numerous rigorous terms after her release, including 200 hours of community service with Marion County Solid Waste litter cleanup within 24 months. Additional post-release requirements include attending DUI school and a victim impact panel within 120 days, as well as getting an alcohol evaluation and counseling within 60 days.
During her five-year probation, she is required to submit to random drug and alcohol screens at least once a month at her own expense, and she is not permitted to possess or use alcohol or unprescribed medication.
