A 43-year-old woman died and another individual suffered injuries in a two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in the Blacklick area, according to authorities.
The collision happened at 5:51 a.m. at the intersection of Havens Corners Road and North Waggoner Road, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Sheriff Dallas Baldwin stated that a black Acura TLX was traveling east on Havens Corners Road, while a black Honda Pilot was moving north on North Waggoner Road. The Honda struck the Acura in the intersection.
Both vehicles veered off to the northwest side of the intersection after the collision. The Acura crashed into a utility pole, snapping it. The pole then fell onto the Honda, pulling down live power lines, authorities said.
Deputies and emergency crews from Jefferson Township arrived at the scene. Utility workers later shut off power to the lines following the crash.
The Acura’s driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Medics pronounced the Honda’s driver, also the sole occupant, dead at the scene at 6:55 a.m.
The Franklin County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Lakesha Marbury, 43, of Columbus.
