Police: 2 Renovo Residents Charged After Child Repeatedly Found Wandering Along Roadway

Two Clinton County residents are facing charges after police discovered a young toddler strolling alone along a busy route on several occasions.

According to the Renovo Police Department, Erin Tripp, 33, and Steven Sylvia, 37, were arrested after an investigation into occurrences on Renovo Road in Chapman Township from April 13 to April 23.

According to police, on three consecutive instances, a 3-year-old youngster left an apartment unnoticed, wandered down a lengthy set of wooden stairs, and ended up on or alongside the road. According to investigators, the child was found without clothing or shoes, including during one incident in which the weather was poor.

In each case, passing automobiles stopped to help the child and called 911. Authorities claim the youngster’s parents were later identified as Tripp and Sylvia, who were unaware the toddler had left the house until they were notified.

According to officers, the incidents continued despite earlier instances, and no corrective action was taken. Police suspect drug use played a factor in the incident.

Tripp faces one felony count, two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of minors, and two misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person. Sylvia is facing one felony count, three misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of children, and three misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person.

Both were charged on April 24 before a magisterial district judge, who set bail at $5,000. Tripp and Sylvia were unable to make bond and are being held in the Clinton County Correctional Facility.
