CINCINNATI — A late-night argument at a downtown gas station escalated into violence Saturday night.
Cincinnati police arrested a man they say chased another vehicle while firing a gun at it on the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge.
Police reported that no one was injured.
Officers took 22-year-old Daniel Jackson-Bey into custody around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
He now faces several charges, including two counts of felony assault, discharging a firearm, and disorderly conduct.
According to police, the incident began just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday with a verbal dispute at a gas station at Linn and West 8th streets.
WLWT spoke with a witness who was present at the busy Shell station as events unfolded.
“Customer came in and said there was a gun pulled (outside),” the man, who asked to remain anonymous, said.
Police later returned to speak with him and confirm details about what happened at the gas station that night leading up to the shooting.
“The police came in today and said, apparently, a gun was pulled (at the gas station), and bear spray was pulled, but no shots or sprays,” he said.
Shortly after, the situation escalated, with police alleging that Jackson-Bey fired at the vehicle on the bridge while pursuing it.
The arrest report states that the victim helped officers identify the vehicle Jackson-Bey was driving.
Police later located him at the intersection of 12th and Walnut streets in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.
Officers said they recovered two shell casings and a handgun from Jackson-Bey during the arrest.
Jackson-Bey is scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday morning.
