Terry Levi Brown, a 36-year-old Summerfield resident, has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison for attempting to seduce a minor for sexual conduct.
U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber sentenced Brown to 15 years of supervised release after serving his prison term. U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced that Brown pleaded guilty to the felony on November 20, 2025.
The lawsuit resulted from an undercover investigation conducted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) in July 2025 to target persons who exploit children online. On July 27, 2025, two MCSO detectives disguised themselves as 14- and 15-year-old girls online. Brown had sexually explicit discussions with both, knowing they were juveniles, and was arrested when he went to meet them in Marion County for sexual activity.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation handled the investigation, while Assistant US Attorney Sarah Janette Swartzberg prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, the Department of Justice’s nationwide campaign to address child sexual exploitation and abuse that began in May 2006. The initiative brings together federal, state, and local resources to punish criminals and rescue victims.
