Dallas woman taken into custody after setting fire to San Angelo apartment — twice

A Dallas woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after reportedly setting fire to a property in an apartment complex twice in two days.

According to the San Angelo Fire Marshal’s Office, first responders were sent to a structure fire at 9:50 a.m. on Monday, April 27, at 23 E. Ave. K, which belongs to the Dominguez Apartments.

Twenty-one firefighters and 11 units responded to the incident. However, the fire, which involved “the front door of the residence,” was put out by a neighbor before firefighters arrived.

There were no reported casualties, although the structure’s front door was damaged.

Responders were later summoned to the same location around 11:36 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, for a second structure fire, which was “believed to have started inside the residence through a broken window.”

In total, 21 firefighters and nine units responded. Despite this, a neighbor quenched the fire again before firemen arrived.

There were no casualties reported from the second incident, but the structure experienced “additional fire damage to the window and property inside the residence.”

The fire marshal’s office said that the San Angelo Police Department responded and arrested Artrinshaquela King, 47, of Dallas. She was booked into the Tom Green County Jail at 1:48 p.m. on charges of arson and resisting arrest.

King’s bond was $80,000 at the time of publication, according to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office inmate register.

The office stated that its investigation into the incidents is ongoing and that it will share new information when it becomes available. Anyone with information can contact the San Angelo Fire Marshal’s Office at (325) 657-4358.
