Police: Waldorf Employee Took Over $1,600 From Cracker Barrel Registers Over Two Weeks

A 20-year-old Waldorf woman is facing felony charges in a Waldorf employee theft case after authorities say she took over $1,600 from cash registers over two weeks.

Joelle Anicia Brown, 20, of Waldorf, has been charged with a theft conspiracy ranging from $1,500 to $25,000 in connection with the May 1, 2026, incident, according to court records.

According to criminal documents, investigators responded to the Cracker Barrel on Crain Highway after management reported missing money from registers for almost two weeks.

Investigators said store management investigated internal documents and cameras, which revealed an employee stole approximately $1,605 during that time.

According to authorities, Brown eventually admitted to taking the money and offered a written statement confessing the theft.

According to the report, Brown informed investigators that she took the money for personal reasons such as financial difficulties and school expenditures.

Police claimed she also informed officers she was willing to reimburse the entire amount.

Brown was taken into custody without incident and then released on her own recognizance.

A hearing is scheduled for June 17, 2026, at Charles District Court.

Under Maryland law, a theft scheme worth $1,500 to $25,000 is a felony punishable by up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
