A man believed to be tied to a string of Houston-area bank robberies—once known only as the “Subzero” suspect—has now been identified and apprehended, according to an update from investigators.
Jamail White is in police custody in North Dakota and is facing robbery accusations in Texas. He was caught with the assistance of the FBI, Houston police, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and Conroe police.
The arrest is a significant move in a case that has perplexed authorities for years, involving a string of robberies at Frost Bank stores throughout the Houston area.
Authorities say White is suspected in at least three robberies dating back to 2021, including a January holdup at a Frost Bank on Almeda-Genoa Road. In that case, investigators claimed the suspect walked in armed with a revolver, pointed it at staff, and forced them to the ground before fleeing with cash. There were no injuries recorded.
The suspect was given the nickname “Subzero” because of the cold snap that occurred during the most recent heist, as well as the fact that each location targeted was a Frost Bank branch, which was a peculiar pattern that caught police’ attention.
Officials also noticed a lull in activity, with robberies in October and December 2021, until the culprit reappeared years later, in 2026.
Even after the arrest, the probe is far from over.
Authorities said White may be connected to additional robberies and are asking anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
